They’re what bookmarks were made for

The Parlour Series - Winter 2026
The Bookneck Parlour Series is a season of intimate literary gatherings inspired by the slower social traditions of the Regency era. Think candlelit conversation, correspondence and creativity somewhere between a Jane Austen novel and a winter literary salon, culminating in a Regency-inspired Winter Assembly.
(If this sounds like your kind of thing, be sure to sign up to our mailing list for early invitations and season announcements.)
Winter Parlour No. 2: Silhouettes & Parlour Amusements
Thursday 6 August 2026 | 6.30pm - 8.30pm
Mount Martha House, Mount Martha
$39 | Limited to 20 guests
Before telephones, television, and endless scrolling, evenings were filled with conversation, games, music and simple amusements shared among friends.
For our second Winter Parlour gathering, we'll step back into the world of the Georgian and Regency drawing room, where entertainment relied less on technology and more on wit, imagination, and creativity.
We'll try our hand at a selection of traditional parlour amusements, discover the history of the silhouette portrait, and create our own keepsake to take home. Come curious, leave charmed, and perhaps with a few new ways to entertain without ever reaching for a screen.

The Un-Book Club
Most conversations about books end just as they're getting interesting.
The Un-Book Club begins there.
There's no assigned reading. No pressure to finish a chapter before Thursday. Just bring whatever you're currently reading (or have recently loved), settle in with a coffee, and spend an hour in the company of other curious readers.
Some people come looking for their next great read. Others come for the conversation. Most leave with both.
Every gathering begins and ends with a browse around Pippi, Bookneck's tiny travelling second-hand bookshop.
Where and when: First Thursday of each month at Blue Mini Café, Rosebud.
Cost: Free to attend. We simply ask that you support our wonderful hosts by purchasing a coffee or something from the menu.
Please note: We'd love to know you're coming. Places are limited, so RSVP by email to secure your seat: bookneckbooksellers@gmail.com.
